Here you will find information about the smallwarz war game engine. This is an engine for creating Turn based, hex map strategic and tactical war games. The engine will be:
- Cross Platform (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux)
- Single set of Dependencies
- Easy to package a Game
- Able to support commercial games
- Intuitive User Interface
- Multiplayer (PBEM, Network, Server?)
- Not hardware intensive
- Tools to allow easy modification or creation of games
I am working on extracting most of this functionality from the excellent open source game Crimson Fields. Please drop me a line if you would like to help. My plan is to create a few different games with the engine as I add functionality. The first game will be the game Hex. Then I will recreate a conquest game in which different units have regions of control. Finally I will recreate Crimson Fields using the engine. I have not worked out the details of these games yet. What help do I need?
